Huang Shichao

BIOGRAPHY

Huang Shichao (Chinese: 黄世超; born October 24, 1990) is a Chinese actor working in mainland television. His screen record spans more than a decade of supporting and second-lead roles across historical, campus-romance and web-drama formats.

He appeared in the period drama Man Comes to Tang Dynasty (2013) and the hit romance Boss & Me (2014) as Wang Hong, then in Sweet Encounter (2016), the wuxia series One Sword Sweeps All (2017) as Wen Li Xuan, and the widely watched school romance Unrequited Love (2019) as Luo Yang. More recent work includes the 2025 drama listed in Chinese as 期许之地. In 2026 he joined the Chinese-Hong Kong BL drama Sammy’s Children’s Day as Qinglong, a triad figure in the 1980s Kowloon Walled City storyline, appearing in three of the nine episodes.

BLGLFlix editorial view

Three episodes, all of them inside the strand that takes place in Kowloon Walled City forty years ago. Where this production put its story is doing real work.

Huang Shichao plays Qinglong, a triad figure, in Sammy’s Children’s Day. He comes to it from thirteen years of mainland television: Man Comes to Tang Dynasty in 2013, Boss & Me in 2014, Sweet Encounter, the wuxia series One Sword Sweeps All, and the school romance Unrequited Love in 2019.

Two of those, Boss & Me and Unrequited Love, were widely watched. He is a recognisable supporting face taking a three-episode part in a small BL production, which normally means the schedule fit and the project interested him rather than that anyone needed his name on it.

A story placed in a demolished Hong Kong neighbourhood forty years ago is not the same proposition as a contemporary one, and this catalogue’s Chinese-language BL entries lean heavily on distance, whether historical, fantastical or geographic. Where a story is set turns out to matter as much as what happens in it.
