This page lists what blglflix.com stores in a reader’s browser, who puts it there, what it is for, and how long it lasts. The wider picture is on the Privacy Policy.
1. Measurement cookies, set by Google
Google Analytics 4 is active on this site. It sets two cookies.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells one browser apart from another so that a returning reader is not counted as a new one. | 2 years | |
| _ga_Y32XJ4SG88 | Keeps the state of the current visit, so that several pages read in one sitting count as one visit. | 2 years |
These are set when the page loads. They carry a randomly generated identifier, not a name or an email address, and this site sees only the aggregate reports Google produces from them.
2. Cookies WordPress sets
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| comment_author_* | This site | Where a reader leaves a comment, remembers the name, email address and website entered so the form does not have to be filled in again. Set only if a comment is submitted. | Up to 1 year |
| wordpress_test_cookie | This site | Checks once whether the browser accepts cookies at all. | Until the browser closes |
| wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* | This site | Keeps the site’s own administrator signed in and remembers admin screen settings. Never set for an ordinary reader. | Session to 1 year |
3. Preferences kept in the browser, not in a cookie
Two things are remembered in the browser’s own local storage rather than in a cookie, which means they stay on the reader’s device and are never sent to this site’s server with a page request:
- Mood Board likes, so that a post already liked shows as liked and cannot be liked twice from the same device.
- Title ratings, so that a title already rated shows the rating given and is not counted twice from the same device.
Neither stores a name, an email address or anything that identifies a person. Clearing site data in the browser removes both, and the only effect is that a title could be rated again from that device.
4. Advertising cookies
No advertising cookie is set on this site today, because no advertising is served here. If advertising begins, Google and its partners would set their own cookies to select and measure advertisements, and this page will be rewritten to list them on the day that happens.
5. Changing the preference
- Block or delete cookies in the browser. Every browser can block cookies for a single site or delete what a site has already stored, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking the cookies listed above will not break this site: nothing here is behind a login, and the only loss is that a rating or a like may be offered twice on the same device.
- Opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google’s browser opt-out add-on, which works across every site that uses it.
- Control advertisement personalisation at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many vendors at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
Readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland should know where this stands today: there is no consent banner on this site at present, and the analytics cookies in section 1 are set when a page loads. Before advertising is enabled, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform will be put in place, and it will be asked to cover the analytics cookies as well as the advertising ones. Anybody who would rather not be measured in the meantime can use the opt-out add-on above or block the cookies in the browser, and a request sent to the address below will be acted on.
6. Keeping this list honest
This list is maintained by hand and describes what this site knows it sets. If you find something stored by blglflix.com that is not listed here, write to the address below and it will be either explained or removed.
