Where to start with BL

Boys’ Love, or BL, is the larger of the two genres on the site and the one with the widest range of tones. A single week of viewing can take you from a school romance to an office comedy to a crime drama. That range is the reason a good starting point matters, and it is why this page links to tools instead of a single ranked list.I am Renkaze, the editor of BL & GL Flix. My advice for a first BL series is the same one I give for any genre: pick one season with a clear ending, and check how many episodes it has before you commit. Every series page states the episode count, the country and the streaming platform at the top, so you can decide in a few seconds.

Sequels, seasons and spin-offs

Many BL series belong to a larger story. 2gether, Love Class, Fourever You, Pure Vanilla, Love Is Better, The Journey to Killing You, Cherry Magic, HIStory3, The Untamed and Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami all have follow-ups or related titles. The watch order guide places each one in sequence, so you do not begin with a sequel by accident.

Choose by mood, country or price

The series picker turns a few questions into a short list. The countries guide explains how Thai, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese productions differ in pace and style, and the studios page shows who made what. For free viewing, see the free to watch page, and for platforms, the where to watch guide.

Keep track as you go

The watchlist lets you mark a series as want to watch, watching or finished, and carries your list between devices with a short code. If a term in a review is new, the glossary and the FAQ answer the common questions, and the GL page covers the sister genre.Reviewed by Renkaze, editor of BL & GL Flix
