Double Helix
SYNOPSIS
Lu Feng (Ayden Sng) is the rebellious heir of a wealthy family, a young man used to getting what he wants and equally used to being told what his life is supposed to look like. Cheng Yichen (Lyu Sitong) is the quiet top student at his school, careful, hard-working and more or less invisible until Lu Feng decides otherwise. Their high-school years turn into a first love neither of them knows how to hide, and Double Helix opens inside that fragile window before everything breaks: the kind of romance that feels invincible right up to the moment a single secretly taken photograph lands in the wrong hands. When the picture reaches their families, the punishment is immediate. Lu Feng is sent abroad to the United States, Yichen transfers schools, and the two are pulled apart for years with no chance to explain themselves to each other.
The reunion, when it finally comes, happens on the worst possible terms. Lu Feng returns as the new executive director of the company where Yichen now works in the design department, and the boy he lost is suddenly sitting on his payroll. What follows is a love-and-hate spiral of pride, resentment and unfinished feeling, squeezed from every side by family expectation and an arranged engagement neither man asked for. Running parallel to the present day is the school-era timeline, where Cheng Yichen (He Jiashu) appears as his teenage self and Qin Lang (Fa Xuange) carries a second couple's arc that mirrors the main pair's. Around them, Zhuo Lan (Li Keyi), Lu Yu (Yang Kexin) and Zhu Sha (Miao Jingou) fill out the circle of family and friends that neither relationship can ever fully escape.
Adapted from Lan Lin's danmei web-novel series A Round Trip to Love (双程系列), this Chinese, Singaporean production is the second time the story has reached the screen after the 2016 two-part film version, and the extra room of a twelve-episode series finally lets the decade-long timeline breathe. Directed by Li Yingyi for Here We Go Production Company, it premiered on GagaOOLala on 8 May 2026 and closed on 13 June 2026, streaming worldwide outside Japan and South Korea. The tone is angst-forward rather than comfort viewing: obsession, class difference, filial duty and the cost of being exposed are named openly and played as emotional wreckage rather than spectacle. Whether Lu Feng and Cheng Yichen can build anything honest out of ten years of damage is the one question the finale keeps for itself.
