What is worth saying on this page is not about him, because there is almost nothing on the public record about him. It is about what he walked into.

Hong Kong has one of the longest and most serious queer film histories in Asia and, until now, essentially no Boys’ Love industry. Ash is a deliberate attempt to start one: a Hong Kong production, in Cantonese, with a local crew, adapted from an established Chinese novelist, pushed out internationally through Youku. That is different in kind from a mainland or Taiwanese BL that happens to have Hong Kong faces in it, and this is his first job.

The casting around him is the strongest evidence that somebody meant it. Vanora Hui, also in this cast, has nine credits, two ViuTV series and a role in In Broad Daylight, a film with sixteen Hong Kong Film Awards nominations. Angelina Chiu was in a Lunar New Year studio feature opposite Dayo Wong and Sammi Cheng. Pat Ha and Justin Cheung are established Hong Kong screen actors. BL almost everywhere is cast entirely with unknowns, because the format is a launch mechanism as much as a genre. Ash put three newcomers at the front and then paid for a supporting cast with real careers behind it.

Two cautions a reader should carry away. First, his character exists in most databases under two completely different-looking names. TMDB indexes the entire Ash cast in Mandarin pinyin, so he is Peng Ziye playing Xu Lvetao; English-language coverage uses the Cantonese forms, so he is Leo Peng playing Hui Leuk-to. Both are correct and neither is a different person. For a series whose whole identity is that it was made in Cantonese, being catalogued in Mandarin is a peculiar fate, and it is going to confuse people searching for it.

Second, the producer cannot be stated with confidence. English Wikipedia credits Tongmeng International. TMDB credits DreamReunion International. These may well be two renderings of one Chinese company name, but that cannot be demonstrated, so this page names neither as fact and records the disagreement instead of choosing.

On him personally: no date of birth in any source, no biography, no agency, no Wikidata item. TMDB holds two photographs, a place of birth and an IMDb identifier. He is a lead in a series that is trying to open a national genre, and the reference layer has almost nothing on him at all, which is the normal condition for a BL debut and is worth naming rather than papering over.
