Prince meets commoner. Rank says no. A whole country is about to change its rules. If those three sentences already have you reaching for the tissues, The Edge of Horizon is your next period drama, and it is set against the very real upheaval of 1932 Siam.

A Prince, a Wet Nurse's Son, and a Line Through the House

Prince Thinnakon (Ongsa Theethuch Khummuang) is born into royal lineage. Phopthee Mankhongphak (Inn Jakkrasin Atsavatanachai) is a commoner with nothing but his pride and dignity, and his mother Nuan (Kathaleeya McIntosh) is the palace wet nurse. So Phopthee is not an outsider knocking on the gate. He grew up inside the household, and the line between them runs straight through the rooms he lives in. The bond the two formed when young is torn apart by tradition and rank, and Thinnakon's father, Prince Vasin (Chai Chatayodom Hiranyasthiti), is the man who refuses the match. Years later, grown and living in a country on the brink of change, fate pushes them back together.

Forbidden Love on a Revolution Clock

If you love forbidden love, class divide and reunion romance, this one ticks every box. Phopthee refuses to accept that being a commoner decides who he may love, and the 1932 revolution, when the absolute monarchy gave way to constitutional rule, does the same thing to the whole country on a bigger stage. The history is not wallpaper here. It shapes the couple's fate. The mood is sweeping and emotional, with palace politics, family honour and some action, rated 15+. Prince Chattrathon (Pond Ponlawit Ketprapakorn), Princess Siri (Prinda Techaiya) and others fill out a royal household that feels like a real community.

InnOngsa, Opening Night

This is the debut of One31's InnOngsa pairing, so you are getting in on the ground floor. Ongsa also sings the theme song, แสงแรก (First Light). And here is a sweet detail: both the series title, อรุณรุ่ง, which means dawn, and that song are named for the hour before daylight. Neither is named for the day itself, which tells you a lot about where the story places its hope. If you know Ongsa from The Cursed Love, this is a very different flavour: a period romance in place of a supernatural one.

Director Kathadeb Thaivanit works from a screenplay by Chawanon Sarapat, Wantawil Suknoy and Apirat Hinkaew for The One Enterprise. It is an original story, so there is no book to read ahead.

Eleven Saturdays in 1932

Eleven episodes of about 51 minutes aired on One31 on Saturdays at 20:30, from 20 June to 29 August 2026, with no breaks and same-day catch-up on the oneD app. GagaOOLala carries it internationally. The launch came with a world premiere at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin on the same day as episode one.

My tip: this rewards patience. Watch it weekly if you can, one Saturday at a time, and let the slow, unhurried romance breathe while the country shifts around it. Period romance is best savoured slowly.
