Thai historical BL

Love Destiny is a remake of a 2018 series. A modern surgeon from 2026 wakes in the body of Gaew, a despised man in Ayutthaya during the reign of King Narai. Love Upon a Time runs two eras at once, with every lead playing one person in the present and one in the Ayutthaya Kingdom four centuries earlier. It aired 12 episodes on Workpoint TV from 27 March 2026 and has an extended edition on iQIYI.

The Edge of Horizon jumps forward to 1932 Siam and the upheaval of that year. The One Enterprise made it for One31, and its 11 episodes ran on Saturdays from 20 June to 29 August 2026. Ticket to Heaven is set in 1996 inside a strict Catholic seminary in Thailand, so it counts as period drama in the sense that matters: the past shapes every scene. It ran 6 episodes on GMM 25 from 30 May 2026.

Chinese historical BL

The Untamed is the title most viewers have heard of. It is a 2019 xianxia fantasy of 50 episodes on Tencent Video and WeTV, adapted from Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, and Tencent Video logged more than 10 billion views by December 2021. It is tagged Bromance here, and many viewers read it as BL. The story also exists as a manhua and as the donghua covered in our Mo Dao Zu Shi watch and read order.

Kill to Love is a Mandarin-language historical drama of 12 episodes on GagaOOLala, released between 25 August and 9 September 2025, with a source novel titled Shan He Yong Ji. Journey With You follows Yin Qi, Fifth Prince of Xing, home from three years on the frontier, and runs 8 episodes on GagaOOLala. Sammy’s Children’s Day opens in the Kowloon Walled City of the 1980s and is set in a lawless warren where the triads set the rules.
