What happens

The Summer You Kissed Me (被你吻过的夏天; pinyin: Bèi Nǐ Wěn Guò de Xiàtiān) is a 2026 Chinese short-form boys' love web drama set in Lijiang, in Yunnan. Chen Yan Di (Chen Zihan), still carrying the wounds of a past relationship, travels to the old town and meets the bright and straightforward Gao Ran (Wang Chen Rui). A meeting that begins in the height of summer and a kiss that changes everything become the most unforgettable memories of first love.

The story is a nostalgic summer romance about first love, heartbreak and cherished memories, and about the feelings that remain after the season ends. The Chinese title, 被你吻过的夏天, turns the season itself into the thing that was kissed, literally the summer kissed by you, so the story is told from the far side of the memory, looking back at the moment. Lijiang's old town in Yunnan is the setting, and the story is carried by the two leads alone: Wang Chen Rui and Chen Zihan are the only two credited performers, and the series is an original Mandarin-language microdrama rated 13+, with no novel or manga behind it.

Directed by MR.D, the microdrama runs five compact episodes of roughly twelve minutes each, released from 4 June 2026 through the Secret Of Us Official (我们的秘密) YouTube channel: three episodes on the first day, then one each on 11 and 18 June.

Some shows are a full meal. The Summer You Kissed Me is an ice lolly on a hot afternoon: small, sweet, gone fast, and you remember the flavour long after. Five episodes, about twelve minutes each, one old town in Yunnan and one summer that the title has already told you ends in a kiss.

Heartbreak Takes a Trip to Lijiang

Chen Yan Di (Chen Zihan) arrives in Lijiang's old town still nursing the wounds of a past relationship. There he meets Gao Ran (Wang Chen Rui), bright and straightforward, the exact opposite of brooding. A meeting at the height of summer, a kiss that changes everything, and the kind of first love that gets filed away as a memory you keep taking out to look at. That is the whole story, and it does not pretend to be more.

Just the Two of Them

Here is something unusual: Wang Chen Rui and Chen Zihan are the only two credited performers. No ensemble, no meddling best friend, no side plot. Every minute belongs to the pair, and the old town setting does the scene-setting work, so there is no time wasted on explanations. If you love nostalgic summer romance, longing and the bittersweet feeling of a season ending, this is very much your mood. If you need twists and big drama, it is a different flavour.

The rating is 13+, the tone is soft and wistful, and it is an original microdrama directed by MR.D, with no novel or manga behind it. So nobody can spoil it for you.

The Title Is Doing Grammar Homework

Fun detail for language nerds: the Chinese title, 被你吻过的夏天, literally means "the summer kissed by you". The summer is the thing that got kissed, and it is all told from the far side of the memory, looking back. English flips it into a person kissing someone, which is cute, but the original is a little sadder and a lot more poetic.

One Hour, Two Weeks, Zero Excuses

The first three episodes dropped together on 4 June 2026, then one more on 11 June and the last on 18 June, on the Secret Of Us Official (我们的秘密) YouTube channel. It is also listed on GagaOOLala. My tip: wait for a lazy summer evening, open a window, and watch all five in one go. It is short enough that you will finish before your drink gets warm.

Final Score: 6.5/10
