The Heart Killers (Thai: เขาจ้างให้ผมจีบนักฆ่า, RTGS: Khao Chang Hai Phom Chip Nakkha) is a 2024 Thai BL action-romantic-comedy television series produced by GMMTV and directed by Tichakorn "Jojo" Phukhaotong. His earlier credits are "Gay OK Bangkok" (2016) and "Not Me" (2021), and he also directed "Only Friends" (2023). The 12-episode series brings together two BL pairings, FirstKhao (Kanaphan "First" Puitrakul × Thanawat "Khaotung" Rattanakitpaisan) and JoongDunk (Archen "Joong" Aydin × Natachai "Dunk" Boonprasert), in a single dual-couple narrative.

The story follows Kant Pattanawat (First Kanaphan), a tattoo artist and former car thief who works as a secret police informant in exchange for a clean criminal record. Tasked with infiltrating a pair of assassin brothers who operate a hamburger shop as their cover, Kant is startled to find that the younger brother, Bison Aechitpol Phanlert (Khaotung Thanawat), is the man he met by chance one night at a bowling alley and never forgot. Bison's overprotective older brother Fadel Kasemsan (Joong Archen) immediately suspects Kant's motives, so Kant recruits his best friend, mechanic Style Sattawat (Dunk Natachai), promising him a vintage car if he can charm Fadel into distraction. What begins as a calculated mission of mutual deception turns into genuine love and then betrayal, followed by a five-year prison sentence that tests whether love can survive when it was born from a lie.

The Heart Killers is a loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew" (c. 1590-1592), filtered through the lens of the 1999 American teen film "10 Things I Hate About You." Filming took place from July 18, 2024 to October 30, 2024 in Thailand. The series premiered on GMM 25 on November 20, 2024 and concluded on February 12, 2025, airing every Wednesday at 8:30 PM Thailand time. The extended director's version streams on iQIYI, while the international subtitled version is available free on YouTube via GMMTV's official channel, and also on Rakuten Viki and GagaOOLala. OneD Thailand carries it too. A novel adaptation written by Nottakorn was released on October 17, 2024 at the Book Expo Thailand.

Picture this: your job is to flirt with a hitman. Not arrest him, not outrun him, just get him to like you enough that his secrets slip out somewhere between the fries and the ketchup. That is the deal Kant signs in The Heart Killers, and the Thai title does not even pretend otherwise. It translates as "he hired me to seduce a killer". Honestly, I respect a show that puts the whole plan on the poster.

Two Assassins, One Burger Counter, Zero Honest Menus

The killers are brothers, and their cover is a hamburger shop. That one detail tells you the tone right away: this is a crime story that wants you grinning between the danger. Kant (First Kanaphan) is a tattoo artist and former car thief who feeds the police information in exchange for a clean record. His target, younger brother Bison (Khaotung Thanawat), turns out to be the man Kant met by chance one night at a bowling alley and never forgot. Of all the burger joints in all the world.

Big brother Fadel (Joong Archen) smells trouble the second Kant shows up, so Kant calls in his best friend Style (Dunk Natachai), a mechanic, and bribes him with a vintage car to keep Fadel busy. So yes, Style agrees to charm a professional killer for a set of wheels. Some of us would do worse for a nice car.

The Shipper Buffet: FirstKhao and JoongDunk on One Plate

If you came for couples, you get two full leading pairs in one story, and neither one gets shoved into the corner. FirstKhao play Kant and Bison, whose romance starts from that bowling alley spark, so it has the flavour of "I knew I was in trouble before I knew his job". JoongDunk play Fadel and Style, who start with suspicion on one side and a paycheck on the other. If enemies to lovers is your weak spot, keep both eyes on the mechanic and the big brother. The genre tags also promise slow burn, friends to lovers and found family, and with a crime plot holding it all together, that is a lot of tropes in one burger box.

Shakespeare Walks Into a Bowling Alley

The bones come from The Taming of the Shrew, by way of the 1999 teen film 10 Things I Hate About You, which also builds its romance on someone being paid to woo a difficult sibling. If you love that film, you will spot the skeleton fast, then watch it get loaded with police deals, betrayal and a five-year prison sentence. Director Jojo Tichakorn is the name behind Not Me and Only Friends, and this one has an MA rating, so expect grown-up stakes. The mood swings from chaotic comedy to proper angst, because a love born from a lie has to pay for that lie at some point. Tissues and snacks, both.

Planning Your Binge (Cancel Something)

There are 12 episodes of about 68 minutes each, first aired on GMM25 on Wednesdays from 20 November 2024 to 12 February 2025. The subtitled version is free on GMMTV's YouTube channel, and it also sits on Viki and GagaOOLala. iQIYI has the extended director's version, which runs 15 to 30 minutes longer per episode and restores footage cut for broadcast, so that is the one to pick if you want the fullest telling. Extra goodies: Khaotung sings the opening theme "Destroy Love", all four leads sing "Never Back Down" together, and there is a tie-in novel by Nottakorn.

My tip: if you have never watched either pair, this is the most efficient introduction you will find. Two couples, one show, and a burger counter that is definitely not just selling burgers.
