BIOGRAPHY
Jojo Tichakorn Phukhaotong (Thai: โจโจ้ ทิชากร ภูเขาทอง), born December 26, 1984 in Surat Thani, is a Thai television director, screenwriter, and the founder of the party-planning service Trasher Bangkok. He is one of GMMTV’s most prominent Boys’ Love directors.
Jojo graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from the Faculty of Archaeology at Silpakorn University. He had no formal background in film-making but had always wanted to become a director. He began his career making Bangkok-set parody videos of pop songs, many of them starring actor Jennie Panhan.
Openly gay, Jojo felt that gay characters in Thai media were typically represented either as sassy, tragic figures or as cute schoolboy couples. With the hope of expanding their representation, he developed his directorial debut series based on his own experiences and those of his community. He made his directorial debut in 2016 with the first season of Gay OK Bangkok, which he also wrote.
Jojo’s directorial credits include Gay OK Bangkok (2016), Friend Zone (2018), Friend Zone 2: Dangerous Area (2020), and most recently The Heart Killers (2024-2025), the dual-couple crime comedy uniting the FirstKhao and JoongDunk pairs. He is also known for the productions Mama Gogo and The Player. In 2021, after departing from Trasher Bangkok, he launched a new production company, Hard Feeling Film, named after the Lorde song.

Holding the director, writer and on-screen credit on one production is uncommon in Thai television, where those jobs are usually split across a team. It means the person deciding what the story is, the person deciding how it is shot, and one of the faces in it are all the same, and whatever the result is, it is unusually attributable.
He came in without a film education. His degree is in English, from an archaeology faculty, and he started by making Bangkok-set parody videos of pop songs before his first series in 2016. Thai television has produced a lot of directors this way and very few of them are described as self-taught in print.
He has also run two companies, a party-planning service and then a production company he founded in 2021 and named after a Lorde song.
His birth date, birthplace, education, agency, a dated 2016 debut and both companies are documented, and his years active field now runs from that debut.
