Among the BL and GL titles reviewed by Renkaze, one hundred and six distinct services carry them, and the typical title sits on exactly two of them. No single service reaches even a third of the screen titles reviewed here. Where a BL or GL production can be watched depends less on the show than on the country that made it.
A long list of services, and one spelling problem
Among the titles reviewed by Renkaze, 94 screen titles name at least one service, and together they produce 225 platform mentions across 106 distinct services. Fourteen novels and manga name no service at all, so every screen figure below leaves them out.
The raw list of service names runs to 70 strings, because the same service is written more than one way: One31, One 31 and ONE 31; oneD and OneD; Viki and Rakuten Viki; TVING and Tving; Wavve and wavve; Prime Video and Prime Video Japan. Merging those seven pairs and triples leaves 106 services. Anyone who counts the raw strings will land on 70 and be off by exactly that margin.
Services carrying the most titles, after merging spelling variants.| Service | Titles |
|---|
| GagaOOLala | 25 |

| YouTube | 22 |

| iQIYI | 21 |

| GMM25 | 20 |

The spread is short at one end and long at the other. Forty one titles sit on a single service. Thirty six sit on two, nineteen on three, and only eleven on four or more. The widest is Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami, which is placed on seven: Tokyo MX, DMM TV, TVer, U-NEXT, FOD, Prime Video and GagaOOLala. Its anime version is on six, and the Japanese Cherry Magic is also on six.
A viewer who finds Thai BL easily will not find Japanese BL the same way
Split the 94 screen titles by the first country listed, and the service lists barely touch. Thai titles draw on 18 distinct services. Japanese titles draw on 23, from a pool a quarter the size. The two countries share only five names: GagaOOLala, Netflix, Prime Video, U-NEXT and Viki.
That is the whole mechanism. Thai BL concentrates: 52 Thai screen titles sit on a short list dominated by GMM25 with 20, iQIYI with 16, One31 with 14, YouTube with 13 and WeTV with 11. Find those five and most of it is within reach. Japanese BL scatters: 13 screen titles across 23 services, a mean of 3.23 services each, but with almost no repetition. Fuji TV, BS Fuji, TV Asahi, MBS, BS11, BS TV Tokyo, DMM TV, AnimeFesta and Apple TV+ each carry one title only. A Japanese series is often reached through the broadcaster that aired it, which is why the list looks so fragmented from outside.
Screen titles by first country listed, with the distinct services they name. Print titles and titles with no service named are excluded.| Country | Titles | Services | Mean per title |
|---|
| Thailand | 52 | 18 | 2.02 |
|---|
| Japan | 13 | 23 | 3.23 |
|---|
| South Korea | 11 | 9 | 1.91 |
|---|
| China | 9 | 6 | 1.56 |
|---|
| Taiwan | 5 | 7 | 2.80 |
|---|
Korea forms a third pattern. Its 11 screen titles lean on Viki with five and GagaOOLala with five, then split across Wavve, TVING, OnDemandKorea, tvN, Netflix, YouTube and iQIYI. Love Class is on Viki alone, Summertime on Wavve alone, and Backdoor on YouTube alone. Three Korean titles, three different front doors.
China is the most concentrated of the five, at 1.56 services per title across six services. The Untamed is on WeTV and nothing else. Taiwan behaves like Japan in miniature: five titles, seven services, and Connecting to You alone accounts for five of them.
Free to air, subscription and open access are three different propositions
The 94 screen titles name three kinds of carrier, and they are not interchangeable. Each service falls into one of them by what it is, not by what it shows.
Seventeen are broadcast channels, free to air or cable, and they carry 49 titles between them: GMM25, One31, Channel 3, Amarin TV, Workpoint TV, Channel 9 MCOT HD, TrueVisions Now, Tokyo MX, TV Tokyo, BS TV Tokyo, BS11, BS Fuji, Fuji TV, TV Asahi, MBS, tvN and oneD. Twenty three are subscription streamers and carry 71 titles. Two are open platforms, YouTube and TVer, and carry 24 between them. Three are physical venues attached to a theatrical or stage release, and they carry three titles.
Access type across the 94 screen titles that name a service. A title can appear in more than one row.| Access type | Services | Titles |
|---|
| Subscription streamer | 23 | 71 |
|---|
| Broadcast channel | 17 | 49 |
|---|
| Open platform | 2 | 24 |
|---|
| Venue | 3 | 3 |
|---|
Thirty two of the 94 titles are placed on neither a broadcast channel nor an open platform, so a paid service is their only route. The country split is sharp here too: 39 of the 52 Thai screen titles are on a broadcast channel, against nine of thirteen Japanese, one of eleven Korean, and none at all among the Chinese or Taiwanese titles. Thai BL is the one place where free television is a normal way in.
Three services reach 57 of the 94 screen titles
A simple coverage calculation answers the practical question. Take the service that carries the most titles, remove everything it carries, then take the next service that carries the most of what is left, and repeat. That yields the smallest set of services reaching the most titles.
GagaOOLala goes first with 25 titles, 26.6 percent of the screen pool. GMM25 adds 18 more, taking the pair to 43, or 45.7 percent. iQIYI adds 14, taking the trio to 57, or 60.6 percent. YouTube would add eight more for 65, and WeTV six more for 71.
GMM25 is a Thai broadcast channel, so a viewer outside Thailand cannot use it. Swap YouTube in and the trio of GagaOOLala, YouTube and iQIYI reaches 56 titles instead of 57. The substitution costs one title. Those three cover roughly three fifths of the screen titles reviewed here, and no fourth addition moves the number by more than eight.
Reading the numbers with care
A listed service means the title has appeared there at some point, not that it streams there today and not in every territory. A service listed for a Japanese title may be the Japanese storefront only, and rights move. Merging Prime Video Japan into Prime Video is a judgement call, since they are different storefronts in practice. Keep them separate and the total is 64.
Release year makes no difference to placement. Newer titles are not spread more widely: the 2026 group averages 1.98 services, slightly below the 2025 group at 2.45. The country effect outweighs any year effect.
