What happens

Only Boo! (Thai: แค่ที่แกง, RTGS: Khae Thi Kaeng) is a 2024 Thai BL series made by GMMTV with Gmo Films, directed by Sakon Wongsinwiset and built from the web novel that shares its Thai title, written by peachhplease. Twelve episodes ran on GMM 25 between 31 March and 23 June 2024, Sundays at 20:30 Thailand time. It is the first leading credit for both of its leads.

Mok Diloksakulkan, called Moo (Keen Suvijak Piyanopharoj), has one plan for his life: a boy band debut. His mother disagrees and moves him to a smaller town to bring his attention back to his exams. There he meets Pakorn Wongwiset, known as Kang (Sea Dechchart Tasilp), who works a food stall and treats him with a plain, unfussy kindness, while Moo keeps practising singing and dancing every hour he can find.

The obstacle in the second half is a contract. Moo gets his debut, and the agency that signs him attaches a clause forbidding relationships while he belongs to the group. The series follows what the two do when the thing Moo wanted most becomes the reason they cannot be seen together.

Around the pair are Aun Napat Patcharachavalit as Naphat, called Potae, Ashi Peerakan Teawsuwan as Phira, called Payos, Pansa Vosbein as Neth, Kasidet Plookphol as Shone and Thanawin Teeraphosulaen as Jang. Sataporn Panichraksapong and Darapa Choeysanguan are credited as executive producers.

Filming ran from 12 January to 12 April 2024. Episode two aired on schedule, was repeated the following week across the Songkran holiday, and episode three moved to 21 April, which is why twelve episodes cover thirteen Sundays. Seven original songs were released through GMMTV Records during the run, five of them sung by Keen Suvijak, whose character is a singer inside the story as well as outside it.

Before You Watch

  • Only Boo! is a 2024 GMMTV BL series directed by Sakon Wongsinwiset, twelve episodes on GMM 25 from 31 March to 23 June 2024, Sundays at 20:30 Thailand time.
  • First leading credit for both leads. Sea Dechchart Tasilp had never carried a series before, and Keen Suvijak Piyanopharoj had a supporting part in My Tempo behind him.
  • Source material: the Thai web novel แค่ที่แกง by peachhplease, not an original screenplay.
  • The plot turns on an idol contract. Moo gets the boy band debut he wanted, and the debut comes with a clause against relationships.
  • Keen Suvijak sings five of the seven official songs, including the title track แค่ที่แกง.
  • The run covers thirteen Sundays, not twelve. Episode two was repeated over Songkran and episode three was moved to 21 April 2024.

7.5/10

Only Boo! gave two newcomers their first leading roles in a twelve-episode GMMTV series, and its plot turns on one device: an idol contract with a clause against relationships.

The Leads

Keen Suvijak plays Moo, an aspiring singer, and the role sits close to his own path. He placed seventh in the survival show Project Alpha in 2023 and sings five of the seven soundtrack releases, so the practice scenes are not acted from a distance. Sea Dechchart plays Kang, written as the steady one, and plays him quiet rather than blank.

What to Know Going In

  • The story is set around a food stall, a rehearsal room and a few local streets.
  • The agency stays offscreen: it is a rule the characters work around rather than a character they meet.
  • The broadcast was interrupted once, so twelve episodes ran across thirteen Sundays.

The Verdict

A GMMTV series with a soundtrack at its centre, giving its attention to its two leads and to the choice between a career and a person.

Score: 7.5 out of 10

Only Boo! and WEIRDO-101 share leads and part of their cast two years apart.

WEIRDO-101 (2026) reunites Keen Suvijak and Sea Dechchart, with Keen as Niran and Sea as Cheewa.

The adaptation was announced in Bangkok on 17 October 2023 at the GMMTV 2024: Up & Above Part 1 line-up event. Production started in January 2024, and the first episode aired on 31 March 2024.

The setting does a lot of the work here. A curry stall inside a boys' school is a small, ordinary place, and building the whole story around it keeps everything close to the ground even once the idol industry arrives. Moo wants the stage and he wants someone at the same time, and the series is honest that those two pulls do not sit comfortably together. Wanting a career and wanting a person is a real choice at that age, and it is treated as one instead of being solved in a single scene.

Twelve episodes give the small town side room to breathe before the contracts and the industry pressure turn up, and the gap between where the two leads come from is there from the early episodes rather than introduced late. If you like school romance that stays warm while it talks about ambition, this one sits right in that lane.

Themes

Thai idol culture sits behind this story more heavily than the setting suggests. Agencies in the region sell proximity: audiences are invited to feel that a performer is within reach, and a private attachment reads as a breach of that promise rather than as a private matter. Putting that commercial logic in front of a young performer and asking him to price it is a harder question than a rival would have been, and the series does not pretend there is a painless answer.

What gives the story its shape is that ambition is never treated as a flaw to be cured. Singing is not a phase Moo is meant to grow out of, and nothing in the writing suggests that his career should be given up. The tension stays open because both wants are real, and neither is presented as the mature one.

Setting carries a further argument. Most of the story happens in a provincial town rather than in Bangkok, and the series treats that town as a place where a person can be taken seriously rather than as somewhere to be escaped. The industry, when it arrives, comes from outside and complicates what is already working.

Interesting facts

  • The producer credited on it is Sataporn Panichraksapong, GMMTV managing director since January 2007.
  • Neither lead was a full-time actor when it aired. Sea Dechchart Tasilp was studying at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Keen Suvijak Piyanopharoj was reading electrical engineering at Chulalongkorn University.
  • Keen placed seventh in the survival show Project Alpha in 2023, the year before this aired.

How it was made

The shoot and the broadcast overlapped. Filming ran from 12 January to 12 April 2024, and the first episode went out on 31 March with about twelve days of filming still to run, so the closing stretch was made by people who could already see how the early episodes were landing.
