GAP
SYNOPSIS
GAP (Thai: ทฤษฎีสีชมพู; lit. "Pink Theory") is a 2022 Thai girls' love (GL) drama produced by Idol Factory and directed by Natthaphong Wongkaweepairod, adapted from a novel by Chao Planoy with a screenplay by Phatphatson Warissaraphuricha. The story follows Mon (Becky Armstrong), a newly graduated intern who has idolized Sam (Sarocha "Freen" Chankimha), the young chairwoman of a major company, ever since Sam rescued her as a child. Landing a job at Sam's firm to be near her, Mon is stunned to discover the icy, guarded executive bears little resemblance to the warm image she built in her memory, and that an eight-year age gap, corporate hierarchy, and social class stand between them.
As Mon slowly breaks through Sam's professional facade, the two navigate office politics, family pressure, and the weight of Sam's public image as a media-scrutinized chairwoman. Sam's demanding grandmother (Tassawan Seneewongse) pushes her toward decisions that serve the family business rather than her own happiness, while Mon's persistence forces Sam to confront trauma she has spent years suppressing. Supporting the leads, Kirk (Asavarid Pinitkanjanapun) and Yuki (Urassaya Malaiwong) round out the office ensemble surrounding Mon and Sam's slow-burn relationship, alongside Tee (Natnicha Vorrakittikun) and Jim (Orntara Poolsak). Across twelve episodes, the series balances workplace comedy with a more dramatic reckoning, culminating in a finale where Sam must choose between her family's expectations and the woman she loves.
Widely regarded as the series that established Thailand's modern GL genre, GAP became the first girls' love drama broadcast on Thai national television via Channel 3, alongside its extended streaming edition on Idol Factory's YouTube channel, and surpassed 900 million combined views within its first year. The chemistry between Becky Armstrong and Sarocha Chankimha - later branded "FreenBecky" by fans and their own agency - propelled both actresses into leading roles across Thai film and television and earned the pairing repeated Couple of the Year honors at the Kazz Awards and Maya Awards. GAP remains a benchmark title for the genre and set the stage for the duo's reunion in the 2024 series The Loyal Pin.
