GAP (Novel)
SYNOPSIS
GAP (ทฤษฎีสีชมพู, Pink Theory) is the Thai Girls' Love novel by Chao Planoy that the 2022 Idol Factory series adapts. The author publishes it themselves rather than through a house imprint, and an official English edition runs to 941 pages.
Mon has admired Khun Sam since she was a child, when a stranger in a business suit stopped to help her and left an impression that never wore off. Years later she engineers her way into a job at Sam's company, and finds that the woman she built a whole idea of her life around is nothing like the memory: exacting, cold, and openly unimpressed with her.
The novel is built on three gaps, which is where the title comes from: gender, rank and age. Sam is her employer, considerably older, and heir to a family that has already decided what her life is going to look like. What the book is actually about is how much of that Mon can close by refusing to be intimidated, and how much of it Sam has to dismantle herself.
GAP is widely credited with opening the Thai GL market to a mainstream audience, and its television adaptation made Freen Sarocha and Becky Rebecca two of the most visible actors in the genre.
