Love Upon a Time (Web Novel)
SYNOPSIS
Love Upon a Time (Thai: ภพเธอ; RTGS: Phop Thoe) is a Thai boys' love web novel, first serialised online in 2021 before Deep Publishing, an imprint of Satapornbooks, released it that November as an official e-book running to more than six hundred pages. Nakun is a present-day university student who falls asleep and wakes nearly four hundred years earlier, in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. With no way to explain himself, he lets the household around him believe he is Klao, the son of a disgraced official who vanished after his father was branded a criminal. The impersonation buys Nakun food, shelter and time, but it also puts him directly in the path of the one person least willing to be fooled.
That person is Muun Phop, Klao's devoted elder-brother figure, who has known the real Klao since childhood and senses almost at once that something about the man wearing that face has changed. As Nakun works to clear his adoptive father's name and uncover what actually happened to the missing young master, Phop's suspicion gives way to an attachment neither of them can explain, set against a court world of rank, rumour and arranged marriage that neither man is free to ignore. The novel builds its romance on that tension, a bond formed on a lie the reader is never allowed to forget, while the mystery of the vanished heir tightens around them. Whether Nakun can undo the injustice that made him necessary, and what becomes of a borrowed life once the borrowing has to end, is the question the book keeps in play to its final chapters.
The novel is credited to littlebbear96, and Deep Publishing later issued an official English-language edition, translated by Paphavee and Juls with the meb translation team, alongside a bonus volume of special chapters expanding on the leads' lives before, during and after the main story. It is the direct source of the 2026 Thai series Love Upon a Time, produced by Domundi TV with Mandee Work, which carries the same premise to the screen: JJ Radchapon Phornpinit plays both Nakun and Klao, and Net Siraphop Manithikhun plays Phop and his present-day counterpart, Tinnaphop. The drama adds a second, screen-original pairing and expands the historical world considerably, but its identity mystery and time-slipped romance both begin here, on the page, where Thai readers found it first.
