Lost to You

At seventeen, Zhan Wang (Jia Yi) comes back from Beijing to the small town he grew up in, carrying a diagnosis he has not shared with anyone: terminal brain cancer. He plans to spend what time he has quietly, close to the fish-noodle shop that anchors the neighbourhood, and to leave without making a mark. Then he meets Xu Yuan (Tang Chengzhi), the brightest student in their year and the boy the whole town calls a child of misfortune, blamed for a string of tragedies he had nothing to do with. One of them is living on a private countdown; the other is living under a verdict handed down before he could defend himself. Neither expects the other to stay.

Their wary circling turns into something neither is prepared to lose, and the noodle shop becomes the place where a found family gathers around them. Bian Ye (Cui Yiqian) and Zhan Xu (Yu Qi) press into Zhan Wang's careful isolation, while Lin Xia (Ke Xin) and Xu Nuo (Zhang Ruiyi) widen the story well beyond its two leads: the series is built as a multi-couple ensemble and, alongside its central boys' love romance, threads a girls' love relationship through the same circle of friends. Around all of them sits a town that trades in superstition, where a rumour hardens into fact and a reputation follows a boy into every classroom and every shop doorway. The pressure here comes less from villains than from the quiet arithmetic of fear, and from the secret Zhan Wang keeps choosing not to tell.

Made for the LGBTQ+ streaming service GagaOOLala and listed as a China, Singapore co-production, the twelve-episode Mandarin-language drama released weekly from May 15 to July 3, 2026, with English subtitles available worldwide except in Korea and Japan; episodes run a little over half an hour, and the show is also catalogued as Wishing Fish Noodle House (愿望鱼面馆) after its central setting. No source novel has been officially announced, and the screenplay appears to be original. Tonally it belongs to melodrama rather than campus comedy: mortality, social stigma, first love, and the families people assemble when the ones they were given fall short. Whether two boys taught by circumstance to expect loss can still choose each other is the question the series holds onto until the end.
