Song Won-yeop

BIOGRAPHY

Song Won-yeop (Korean: 송원엽; born 14 December 1995) is a South Korean actor who has spent his career so far in short-run web and streaming drama, moving between the platforms that have carried most of Korea’s queer romance output over the past five years.

His first credit is a single episode of Cafe Midnight, the three-part series that went out on 29 February 2020 from MBC C&I with K-Dragon, where he played Ha Jae-yeong. Three years later came two supporting runs in the same year: ten episodes as Yoo Min-gwon in Bitch X Rich, which began on wavve on 31 May 2023 from Whynot Media, and three episodes as an idol trainee in CEO-dol Mart, which began on TVING on 15 September 2023.

In late 2025 he took a six-episode role as Kim Young-woo in Match Play, a boys’ love series adapted from a web novel that ran on Heavenly between 27 November and 11 December 2025, produced by Whynot Media with Spoonlabs. He returned to the genre the following year as Secretary Ha across all six episodes of Check In to You, which began on 21 May 2026.

BLGLFlix editorial view

He is usually credited with one BL. He has two. Match Play came out six months before Check In to You, ran the same six episodes, and put him in a named role rather than an assistant part.

The pattern underneath his five credits is worth naming. Whynot Media produced both Bitch X Rich and Match Play, two years apart, for two different platforms; the second of those is queer romance and the first is not. That is what the Korean side of this genre actually looks like from the production floor. There is no dedicated BL studio doing the work. There are mid-size web drama houses with a slate, and a queer title is one line on it, cast from the same bench of actors who did the high school revenge show and the idol comedy.

Heavenly is the other thing to watch. It carried Match Play in late 2025 and Heesu in Class 2 before that, which makes it a distributor worth tracking rather than a one-off.
