Lizzy (ZELIA)
BIOGRAPHY
Lizzy is a Chinese director and screenwriter who works under the on screen alias ZELIA, written in Chinese as 荔枝. Every credit on record so far belongs to queer drama, and all of it has appeared inside a fifteen month stretch beginning in March 2025.
The first of those credits is Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island (荔枝树下热烈岛), a seven episode Mandarin language web series that premiered on 3 March 2025. TMDB lists bilibili as the production company and GagaOOLala as the distributing network. Episodes run about seventeen minutes. The story follows two young men whose island holiday turns into a first romance, with Liu Yihe and Hu Yichen in the lead roles.
What the credit list records for that series is unusual. TMDB attributes ten separate jobs on it to the same person: creator, director, writer, director of photography, art direction, wardrobe supervisor, editor, colorist, compositor and graphic designer. A film length version of the same story, released as Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island (荔枝树下热烈岛 电影版) on 8 December 2025, carries only two credits: director and writer.
The third and most recent project is A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills’ Dream (寒阳风起春山境), a sixteen episode series that began airing on 12 June 2026 through GagaOOLala and was produced by Jia Lan Shan Ying. The credits there are creator, director and writer. The premise follows a well known actor who retreats into the mountains and falls for a tea farmer.
TMDB holds no birth date, no birthplace and no biography for this person, and lists no linked external accounts. A Wikipedia search in English, Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Korean returned no matching article. Those fields are left empty on this page rather than filled from an unverified source.
BLGLFlix editorial view
Ten job credits on one seven episode series is not a quirk of database entry. It is a description of how the show was made. One person wrote it, directed it, pointed the camera, cut it, graded it and dressed the cast. That is what a large part of Chinese BL production looks like now for anyone without a broadcaster behind them, and it is worth saying plainly, because the easy reading, that mainland queer drama simply stopped after the regulatory tightening of 2021, is wrong. It did not stop. It shrank to the size of one person and a camera.
The alias makes the point twice over. 荔枝 means lychee. The debut series is called 荔枝树下热烈岛, the island under the lychee tree. The director’s working name sits inside the title of the work. That is the signature of an author, not of a hired hand.
Then look at what fifteen months did. Seventeen minute episodes on a web platform in March 2025. A film cut in December 2025. Sixteen full length episodes with a named production company in June 2026. In that third project the ten credits collapse back down to three, and the collapse is the good news: it means somebody else was finally handling the camera and the edit.
Set that against Thailand, where this site has traced the same career step many times over. A Thai director who lands a hit moves inside a studio, GMMTV or Idol Factory or a company with a slate, and the platform changes with the job. Here the opposite happens. The platform stays fixed at GagaOOLala across all three projects, and what grows is the crew underneath the director. Taiwan’s GagaOOLala works as the distribution route for material that has no domestic broadcast path, the same pattern this site recorded in Feng Nong’s adaptations and in Derjk Wu’s filmography. The studio is not the unit of production in Chinese BL at the moment. The individual is, and the platform is what makes the individual reachable at all.
