His first screen credit is dated 2003, which is nineteen years before Love Class and long before Korea produced boys’ love as a category anyone could be cast into. He is not a BL actor who happens to be older. He is a Korean film and television actor of twenty years’ standing who took a supporting part in one, and the distinction matters when reading his filmography, which runs through period action, melodrama and social realism without touching the genre before or after.

Professor Lim is the reason he is in this catalogue at all, and the role explains something about how Korean BL gets staffed. A university romance needs a professor, a parent, a manager, someone with authority who is visibly a generation older than the leads.
