BIOGRAPHY
Zaizai Lin (Chinese: 林辰唏; born May 22, 1990) is a Taiwanese actor best known for playing Yi-Ming in the GagaOOLala GL drama Fragrance of the First Flower, a role that won her Best Leading Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film at the 57th Golden Bell Awards in 2022.
She began her acting career in the 2010 film Taipei Exchanges and went on to build a television career in Taiwan, earning an earlier Best Leading Actress nomination at the 48th Golden Bell Awards for An Innocent Mistake (2012) a decade before her eventual win for Fragrance of the First Flower.
Lin returned as Yi-Ming for the series’ second season in 2025, continuing a role that has become closely associated with her career and with Taiwan’s broader wave of critically recognized queer television.

Zaizai Lin took the award at the 57th Golden Bell Awards in 2022 for Yi-Ming in Fragrance of the First Flower. The Golden Bells are Taiwan’s national television awards, judged across the whole industry rather than by genre, and a GL performance winning the leading category there is not a niche result.
It came ten years after her first nomination, for An Innocent Mistake in 2012, and twelve years after her film debut in Taipei Exchanges. Careers rarely deliver the win a decade after the nomination, and when they do it is usually because the industry changed rather than the performer did.
She returned as Yi-Ming for the second season in 2025. This catalogue holds far more BL than GL, mostly because far less GL gets made, so an award-winning GL lead is one of the more significant records on the site rather than a footnote in it.
