Ekkaphop Khioyasit

BIOGRAPHY

Ekkaphop Khioyasit (also credited as Ekkaphop Khiaoyasit) is a Thai composer whose scores sit under a striking proportion of Thailand’s queer screen output, and under its biggest horror franchise at the same time.

The music of Thai Girls’ Love, almost all of it

Three of the most consequential Girls’ Love productions Thailand has made carry this name as composer:

  • GAP (ทฤษฎีสีชมพู, 2022), twelve episodes on YouTube and Channel 3 for Idol Factory, the series generally taken as Thailand’s first Girls’ Love drama. Original music composer across all twelve episodes.
  • Uranus 2324 (ยูเรนัส 2324, 2024), the 148 minute Girls’ Love feature. Original music composer.
  • The Sign (ลางสังหรณ์, 2023), twelve episodes on Channel 3 for Idol Factory, one of the most widely exported Thai Boys’ Love series of its year.

The Boys’ Love work continues with My Sweetheart Jom (หวานใจผู้ใหญ่จอม, 2025) for Idol Factory on Workpoint TV, and the record also carries scoring credits on Pee Nak (พี่นาค, 2019) and Pee Nak 3 (2022).

And the horror

Outside the genre the filmography is almost entirely Thai horror: the Pee Nak franchise across four instalments through to Pee Nak 5 (2026), plus Hoon Payon (2023), Panor (2025) and Panor 2 (2026).

BLGLFlix editorial view. There is a version of this catalogue that never mentions a composer, and we think that version misses something.

Fandom argues constantly about whether Thai Girls’ Love and Boys’ Love series feel alike. They do, and the usual explanations reach for casting formulas or studio notes. Here is a more literal one: a large share of them are scored by the same person. GAP established what a Thai Girls’ Love series sounds like, and the same composer then scored the biggest Girls’ Love film the country has produced. When two properties that define a category share a composer, they will share a mood, because that is what a score is for.

Our own read is that this is also the clearest evidence yet that Idol Factory operates a real pipeline. We have written elsewhere here about the GMMTV unit, a three-person writers’ room and one director behind much of Thai Girls’ Love. This is the second such unit, at a different company, and its composer is the thread: GAP in 2022, The Sign in 2023, My Sweetheart Jom in 2025. Thai queer television is not made by a country. It is made by two or three small standing teams, and until you look at credits like this one you cannot see them.

The horror half is the detail we enjoy most, and it is not a footnote. The person who decides how a Thai Girls’ Love confession sounds also decides how a Thai ghost sounds. Both jobs are about withholding and release. It is not remotely surprising that one person is good at both, but you would never learn it from anything written about either genre.

  • Three of the credits are Idol Factory productions: GAP, The Sign and My Sweetheart Jom.
  • The rest of the filmography is horror, including four instalments of the Pee Nak franchise.
  • Pee Nak (2019) and Pee Nak 3 (2022) both carry Boys’ Love classification on their own records, despite being horror comedies.
  • Five of eleven credits carry Boys’ Love or Girls’ Love classification.
  • GAP went out on YouTube and Channel 3 simultaneously, a distribution route no other title in this catalogue uses in quite that combination.
  • The scoring credits on GAP, The Sign and My Sweetheart Jom each cover twelve episodes, meaning full-series work rather than selected cues.
