The manga this show came from ran for more than three years before a camera was switched on.

Amekiri began Chotto Matou yo, Harutora-kun in Shinshokan’s Dear+ late in 2021 and finished it early in 2025, three years and change of monthly instalments, gathered afterwards into two volumes. The television version, Hold on, Harutora-kun, followed in 2026 in MBS’s late night Drama Phil slot, eight episodes produced by Episcope. Gakuto Tanaka (田中学人) plays Tsuchiya Shun, a classmate and basketball teammate of the lead.

That sequence is the standard Japanese route and it is worth setting against the Thai one. Thailand builds series around performers, often pairing them before the story exists. Japan adapts a book that already has readers, and casts to serve it. A supporting actor in a Japanese boys love drama is filling a part a manga audience already has opinions about.

The distribution is broader than a late night terrestrial slot suggests. The show went out on MBS, then FOD and TVer for catch up, then GagaOOLala and Viki internationally. Five points of access for an eight episode run.

Against all of that, his record here holds a name in Japanese characters, a nationality, a language and one role. There is no agency, no birth date, no debut year and no confirmed public account, because nothing citable has published them. The distance between how far the work travels and how little follows the performer is the recurring condition of this section of the catalogue, and it is wider in Japan than almost anywhere else.
