Amarin TV is the point of this page. It is the fourth Thai broadcaster documented in this catalogue carrying queer drama, after Channel 3, Channel 7 and ONE 31, and this director has made two BL series for it three years apart.

Four national channels is not a niche being tolerated. It is a genre in general distribution. Every other country in this region has one route at most, and usually not a broadcast one: Korea puts its BL on telecom apps and free video platforms, China sends it abroad to a Taiwanese service, Japan runs it through a quarterly slot on one Tokyo channel, and Taiwan finances it through a platform that had to become a studio. Thailand has four broadcasters doing it at once, plus GMMTV, plus Idol Factory, plus at least four smaller production houses on the record here.

The two premises are worth a line of their own, because they say something about what Thai BL has become confident enough to do. One is a ghost story. The other turns on a memory that resets daily, so the romance has to be rebuilt every morning. Neither is a school romance or a workplace pairing. When a genre gets four broadcasters and a steady commissioning rhythm, it stops having to justify itself with the safe premise, and the writers start reaching for the strange ones.
