Lee Seok-yong

BIOGRAPHY

Lee Seok-yong (Korean: 이석용) is a South Korean director credited as director and creator of Love Class 3 (2026), the third season of the Korean boys’ love franchise. Korean records list the season’s screenplay to Kang Yeong-seon and Jang Yeong-seon, with Choi Ju-su producing.

Credited work begins with the film Nothing (2018), on which the same name carries three roles, director, writer and editor. Eight years separate that debut from Love Class 3, which ran sixteen episodes from May 28 to July 17, 2026 on Wavve, with international distribution through Watcha, Rakuten Viki, Viu, GagaOOLala and Channel K.

Love Class 3 is the season that moves the franchise out of its original campus setting and into the K-pop idol industry, a shift in premise rather than a continuation of the earlier storyline. Each season of the franchise has been directed by a different person, Lee Seong-taek on season one, Jang Yeong-seon on season two, Lee Seok-yong on season three, so the directing credit does not carry across the series.

BLGLFlix editorial view

His first film credit lists him three times: director, writer and editor.

Lee Seok-yong (이석용) made Nothing in 2018 wearing all three of those hats. In 2026 he is credited as director and creator of Love Class Season 3, the sixteen episode Box Media production, with the screenplay credited to Kang Yeong-seon and Jang Yeong-seon and Choi Ju-su producing.

A one person film is the standard way into Korean directing and it is not a stunt. Someone with no budget shoots, writes and cuts their own work because there is nobody else, and what they learn about structure in the edit is the part that transfers. Eight years later that person is running a sixteen episode season with a crew.

Taking over a franchise at its third season is its own kind of job. The first two were made by a different production company, the audience arrives with expectations formed elsewhere, and the incoming director has to decide how much of the previous style to keep. This season doubled the run length and changed most of the cast, so the answer appears to have been: not much.

No birth date, agency or training is recorded here. Korean crew biographies are published far less than performer ones, and nothing citable carries his.

TRIVIA

  • The 2018 debut credit Nothing carries three roles on one film: director, writer and editor.
  • Love Class 3 is the first season of the franchise to leave the university setting, relocating the story to the K-pop idol industry.
  • The season ran sixteen episodes from May 28 to July 17, 2026 on Wavve, released twice weekly.
  • Every Love Class season to date has had a different director, so no single director’s name spans the franchise.
  • TMDB attaches this director’s Director job to the merged parent “Love Class” record with an episode count of sixteen; this is a data-modelling artifact of TMDB’s franchise merging, not evidence of a season one or season two credit.
