Shin Yi-won
BIOGRAPHY
Shin Yi-won (Korean: 신이원) is a South Korean television screenwriter. The record files this name under the Writing department and lists two produced credits, four years apart, both of them full-series writing jobs on major Korean networks rather than partial or episodic assignments.
The first is Green Mothers’ Club (그린마더스클럽), which ran on JTBC from 6 April 2022 across sixteen episodes, produced by Megaphone with JTBC Studios. TMDB classifies it as drama and mystery and tags it mother, married couple, motherhood and secret. The premise sets five mothers against one another inside a competitive elementary school community, where rivalry and buried secrets slowly pull each of their lives apart. Shin Yi-won holds the writing credit on all sixteen episodes.
The second is Four Hands, Two Sonatas (포핸즈), which began on tvN on 29 August 2026 across twelve episodes, produced by Studio Dragon with Namoo Actors and directed by Park Hyeon-seok. Two young pianists arrive at an elite music high school from opposite backgrounds and their lives braid together from there. Shin Yi-won again carries the writing credit on every episode, and on this one TMDB records a second, separate Creator credit as well.
That double credit is the detail worth holding onto. On a Korean drama a writer is very often brought onto a project that already exists, commissioned by a studio around a book, a webtoon or an in-house concept. A creator credit sitting beside the writing credit points the other way: the show is recorded as originating with the writer. No source we could find names an original novel or webtoon behind Four Hands, Two Sonatas, which is consistent with that reading.
Beyond the two credits the public record is genuinely thin. TMDB carries no biography, no date of birth, no place of birth, no photograph and no external identifiers at all, not even an IMDb number. No romanisation variants are recorded. BLGLFLIX has left every one of those fields empty rather than fill them from guesswork.
BLGLFlix editorial view
This page exists because of one keyword. Four Hands, Two Sonatas arrives on TMDB tagged bromance, alongside orchestra, rivalry, childhood friends and piano prodigy. It is not tagged BL, and neither tvN nor Studio Dragon has marketed it as one. We index it under our bromance scope, and we want readers to understand exactly what that means: it is a classification we are applying to a mainstream network drama, not a claim the production has made about itself.
That gap keeps showing up in Korean records and it is worth naming plainly. Where a Thai or Taiwanese production will put the label on the poster, a Korean broadcast drama with the same emotional centre will reach the database with keywords like bromance and friendship and nothing more. We have written several times on this site that this makes Korean material harder to find than it should be. We would qualify that now. As we noted on Jo Yong’s page, the 2026 wavve slate shows Korea does have a pipeline that labels itself openly; the difference is not that Korea has no such productions, it is that the terrestrial and cable networks and the streaming platforms are not behaving the same way. Four Hands, Two Sonatas sits on the network side of that split.
The other thing we find interesting here is the shape of the career itself. Two credits, four years apart, on two different networks, with almost no thematic overlap. A sixteen episode mystery about mothers circling one another in a school parents’ association, then a twelve episode youth drama about two teenage pianists. Writers who move that far between commissions are usually not staff writers being handed slots. The creator credit on the second one supports the same reading, and it is why we would treat the two-credit filmography as a small sample rather than a small career.
