Xion Lim

Xion Lim, also credited as Sean Lim, is a Filipino director and producer, and the chief executive of Oxin Films. On the evidence of his verified credits he is the most prolific director of Philippine boys’ love in the country, with nine BL series to his name between 2020 and 2026.

He is the third generation of his family in film production. Oxin Films, the boutique house he runs, was founded in 2001 and works across corporate video, television commercials, television programmes, music videos, digital content, feature films, web series and international pageant coverage. He has been producing films since 2006.

His series directing begins in 2020 with My Day, a twelve-episode BL made in the first wave of Philippine productions in the genre, and House Rules, which he created. In 2021 he directed The Women of Tonta Club and served as its director of photography. In 2022 he directed all forty-seven episodes of the mainstream drama Mano po Legacy: The Flower Sisters and the ten-episode musical BL Rainbow Prince.

From 2023 the pace becomes relentless and almost entirely BL. He directed Our Story (13 episodes) and My Story (10 episodes) in 2023 and created Tie The Not. In 2024 he directed Regal Studio Presents: Loving Miss Selfish and both created and directed Haunted Hearts. 2025 alone carried three complete series on which he is credited as director, producer and creator: Sashes and Hearts (13 episodes, set in the beauty pageant world his company already films), Hermoso (10 episodes) and Sereno (10 episodes). He directs The Boyfriend Express (2026, 10 episodes).

BLGLFlix editorial view. Four countries in this vertical, four completely different production models, and his is the fourth. Thailand built BL inside television studios and later handed GL to an actor’s own start-up. Korea, at least in Son Tae-gyum’s case, came to it from festival cinema. Taiwan feeds queer productions from the same general pool of jobbing television actors it uses for everything. The Philippines did something else again: a family-owned commercial production house that had spent two decades shooting corporate videos, adverts and pageant coverage turned that infrastructure toward BL and simply did not stop. Nine series in six years from one director is not an artistic movement, it is a functioning small business that found a product. Our own read is that this explains both the strengths and the limits of Pinoy BL as a category. The output is fast, consistent and commercially disciplined, and it arrives without the long development periods that produce a Cherry Magic or a Love In The Big City. It also means the Philippines has something the other three do not: a house that can put a BL series on air whenever it decides to, without asking a broadcaster first.
