Aof Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon

Aof Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon (Thai: อ๊อฟ นพณัช ชัยวิมล), born October 27, 1980, is a Thai director, screenwriter, and Senior Director of Content Production at GMMTV. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Thai Boys’ Love drama, with a directorial catalog spanning over a decade of GMMTV’s most acclaimed productions.

Aof developed an early interest in directing during his high school years through school theater productions and a passion for literature and film. He pursued formal studies in Communication Arts (นิเทศศาสตร์) at university, laying the foundation for his future career in screenwriting and direction.

Aof entered the Thai entertainment industry through independent online series exploring LGBTQ+ themes, most notably as the creator of Gay OK Bangkok (2016) and Gay OK Bangkok 2. These early works addressed underrepresented stories in Thai media and built his foundational skill set. He subsequently joined GMMTV, beginning in junior production roles before transitioning to assistant directing and screenwriting positions. His earliest GMMTV screenwriting credits include the My Dear Loser series (2017) and several Ugly Duckling Series episodes.

Aof’s directorial breakthrough came with Dark Blue Kiss (2019) and He’s Coming To Me (2019), followed by Still 2gether (2020), A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021), 2gether: The Movie (2021), and the critically celebrated Bad Buddy (2021). His directorial portfolio continued with The Eclipse (2022), My School President (2022), Cupid’s Last Wish, Moonlight Chicken (2023), and Last Twilight (2023). He also serves as executive producer on titles including P.S. I Hate You and Mama Gogo.

Beyond his GMMTV work, Aof has spoken on the record about his own life. In a July 2019 interview with The Standard he described coming out to his family at the age of 38, and he returned to the subject in later interviews with Praew (2024) and Esquire Thailand (2026). Aof maintains a strong public presence on Instagram under the handle @backaof, where he shares behind-the-scenes content from his GMMTV productions and personal projects with over 447,000 followers.
