His group changed companies twice and then dissolved. That churn is the ordinary experience of Korean pop, not the exception.

Im Jung-gyu debuted in 2017 with Seven O’Clock, formed jointly by Staro Entertainment and KDH Entertainment, as vocalist and sub-rapper. He stepped back from activities in late 2019. The group moved to Forest Network and disbanded in March 2021. Two labels, one relocation, four years, no lasting result.

What he did next is the part worth recording. From November 2023 he has fronted the vlog series Cityboy_Log, which makes content creation a third career option alongside idol and actor, and one that does not need a company at all. Former group members increasingly take it because it is the only route where nobody else controls the schedule.

The acting followed: a supporting part in the film Victory in 2024, the web drama FC Soldout in 2025, and Seong Jin-u in The Lie We Lived In on Wavve. No current agency is published, and for someone building an audience directly that absence may be deliberate rather than a gap.
