The Lie We Lived In

A contract killing that should have taken minutes becomes the beginning of something neither man can control. Seo Yi-do (Kim Seung-beom) is a hired killer sent to a secluded house to eliminate a young man and disappear before anyone notices. His target, Heo Dong-hwa (Lee Jung-ho), turns out to be nothing like the simple job the contract described, and when the mission goes wrong Yi-do can neither finish it nor walk away. What follows is an uneasy cohabitation: two strangers sharing a kitchen and a corridor, one holding the other's life in his hands, both withholding far more than they admit. Kim Seung-beom carries a second role as Heo Dong-jin, a name and a face tied to Dong-hwa's past, and that doubling becomes the first loose thread in the series' identity puzzle.

The standoff inside the house is disturbed from the outside by Chu Tae-jeong (Kim Kyung-min), a detective who arrives with friendly persistence rather than pressure, and whose easy manner proves far harder to deflect than an interrogation would be. Every visit narrows the space in which Yi-do can keep lying, and every day of forced proximity makes the distance he needs from Dong-hwa harder to hold. Circling the case are Choi Mu-geon (Baek Dong-hyun) and Kang Cheol-jin (Lee Seung-noh), figures attached to the world that issued the contract, along with Kentaro (Terada Takuya), Mu-geon's associate; Hyun Yi (Lee Jae-jun); Sung Jin-woo (Im Jung-gyu), a former high-school classmate of Tae-jeong's; and Chu Dae-seok (Joo Jeong-hyeon), the detective's father. Almost everyone here is concealing something, from one another and from themselves.

Directed by Son Tae-gyeom from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeong Min-seong, the eight-episode series was produced by Blue By Blue with AXIS CCP and Tujaelee Co., and developed under the working title Killing House before settling on its final name, 거짓말이 사는 집. Episodes run roughly twenty to twenty-four minutes and aired two at a time on Wavve between June 5 and June 26, 2026, with an international release on Rakuten Viki carrying English subtitles. It is an original screenplay rather than a novel or webtoon adaptation, and it deliberately pulls Korean BL out of the classroom and into noir territory: confinement, moral compromise, hidden identity, and a romance built on a lie. The compact runtime keeps the mystery moving, and the answers are best left to the series itself.
