He wrote and directed the same series, which Japanese television does not often let one person do.

Kei Taguchi (田口桂) holds both the director and the screenwriter credit on Fake Fact Lips, the ten episode 2026 BS Fuji production. He reached that position the long way, working as an assistant director from 2013 on films including Shiba Park, Closet and NO CALL NO LIFE, and directing his own work from 2022.

The assistant director system in Japan is a real apprenticeship rather than a job title. People spend years on other people’s sets learning scheduling, continuity and how a crew is actually run before anybody hands them a production, and a first directing credit at nine years in is normal rather than slow.

Holding the pen as well is the rarer part. Japanese television usually separates the two, with a screenwriter attached to the project and a director assigned to shoot it, and the division is strong enough that the writer is often the better known name. One person doing both means the adaptation choices and the staging choices were made by the same head.

His birth date is not recorded here, and neither is an agency, because nothing citable publishes them. Crew members are documented by their work far more reliably than by their biographies.
