Two credits, two years apart, and no overlap at all in tone: a thirteen-part revenge serial on a terrestrial national network, then a ten-part BL office comedy for a satellite broadcaster. Writers with short public filmographies are usually assumed to be beginners working their way up a single lane. This one moved genre and network completely between the only two things on record.

The more useful observation is about where Japanese Boys’ Love is being made. Fake Fact Lips went out on BS Fuji, a national satellite broadcaster, with its streaming arm FOD carrying it alongside. Elsewhere on this site is the composer of Hold on, Harutora-kun, an MBS production, who has scored several hundred Japanese films across three decades. Two Japanese BL productions, two major broadcasters, and in both cases the crew came from inside the ordinary television system rather than from a separate low-cost pipeline built for the genre. Japan came to BL later than Thailand or Korea and appears to be catching up by putting it on normal television with normal crews.

The credit structure on Fake Fact Lips is worth recording because it is unusual. Two directors are listed, Takeshi Matsuura and Kei Taguchi, and two screenplay credits, Kei Taguchi and Karasuma, with Machi Suehiro credited for the original story. One person directing and co-writing while a second person directs is not a common arrangement, and the second director is easy to miss entirely.

One note on wording. Deleting [Me] is described here as the synopsis on the series’ own record describes it: a revenge drama about a student who loses everything. Where a work turns on an assault, this site names the genre and the situation and does not narrate what happens. That is standing practice and it is also simply the more accurate summary of what the record supports.

What remains unknown about the writer is almost everything. No date of birth, biography, photograph or agency appears on any source we accept. The Writers Guild of Japan roster returns no match under this name. An X handle is recorded on one database entry, but a single unverified handle is not enough to publish a social link on a real person’s page. Two produced television dramas on two national broadcasters, and not one line of published biography behind them: that is the ordinary condition of the writers this database depends on.
