Nut Nualpang is a Thai screenwriter. The credited writer of Uranus 2324 (ยูเรนัส 2324, 2024), the 148 minute Girls’ Love science fiction romance directed by Thanadol Nuansut and led by Sarocha Chankimha as Lin and Becky Armstrong as Kath.

The filmography runs across Thai cinema and television for two decades: Brave (2007), Orahan Summer (2008), In the Shadow of the Naga (2010), Shambhala (2012), the twenty-five episode Look Poo Chai Lued Dued (2016), The Man Series (2019, 9 episodes), the sixteen episode I Need Romance (2021), Master of the House (2024), and in 2025 both Ziam and Tomb Watcher. The earliest credit on record is on the 2005 Thai film Match Point (เพราะรักครับผม), listed there in a technical rather than a writing role.

Present at the beginning of Thai Girls’ Love, and at its biggest release

Two credits carry Girls’ Love classification, and the gap between them is the whole history of the form in Thailand. The first is an on-screen appearance, not a writing job: a small part billed as Faculty of Communication Arts in Yes or No (2010), the film we hold as the earliest verifiable Thai Girls’ Love feature. The second is the screenplay of Uranus 2324, released 4 July 2024, built around the most commercially significant Girls’ Love pairing the country has produced.

Fourteen years separate them, and nothing in between carries the classification. We checked every credit individually rather than assuming.

That mixture explains a lot about how different Thai Girls’ Love titles feel from one another. Uranus 2324 is a 148 minute science fiction feature, not an episodic romance, because it was written by someone whose day job is Thai commercial cinema rather than by a writer trained inside a studio’s genre format. That is a strength, and it is also a fragility. When a genre leans on visitors, its output is shaped by whoever happens to be available and its supply cannot be planned. Thailand is often treated as the country that solved this problem. On the Boys’ Love side it has. On the Girls’ Love side it has solved perhaps three people’s worth of it.
