A first directing credit that is also a genre first. Thai girls’ love has been, almost without exception, a contemporary form: schools, universities, offices, apartments, the present day. Khom Khlang is classified as a period drama, built on Thai beliefs about ritual power and protection, with a criminal investigation threaded through it. Handing that to a director with no other credit on record is a real decision by the production, and it is the kind of decision worth noticing before the reviews arrive rather than after.

The studio behind it is the other half of the story. Star Hunter Entertainment built its reputation on boys’ love, and a WeTV Original girls’ love period drama is a considerable step sideways from that. Thai production houses have generally specialised: a BL studio makes BL, and GL comes from elsewhere. When a company with a BL catalogue commissions a GL supernatural period piece, it is either diversifying or testing whether the audience it has will follow it somewhere unfamiliar.

A note on how thin the record is. TMDB holds no crew entries at all for this series, only four cast names. His directing credit exists because the production issued a press release naming it. That is a primary source and a better one than a database, but it means this profile stands or falls on a single announcement, and saying so is better than implying a depth of sourcing that is not there. If TMDB or the broadcaster publishes a fuller crew list, this page should be revisited.

One small thing worth keeping straight for anyone searching. The Thai billing opens with มิ, which is how Thai credits carry a performer’s or crew member’s nickname before the full name. The romanisation Mee refers to the same nickname. Both point at the same person, and both are kept visible so a search for either resolves here.
