This page sets out every way money does or could reach BL & GL Flix, and what that money cannot buy. It is written so that a reader can tell the difference between an editorial judgement and a commercial one without having to guess.
1. What is running today
No advertising is served on this site at present. No advertising network is connected, no ad slot is filled, and no advertising cookie is set.
There are currently no affiliate links on this site. No link here carries a tracking or referral parameter, this site is not enrolled in an affiliate programme, and no commission has ever been earned from a click.
No sponsored content has ever been published here, and no payment has been accepted in exchange for coverage, placement or a score.
The rest of this page is written in advance, so that the standard is on the record before there is any money involved rather than after.
2. Advertising, when it starts
The intention is to display advertising through Google AdSense. When that happens, Google and its partners serve and select the advertisements. This site does not choose which advertisement a given reader sees, and does not sell space directly to advertisers.
Two rules will apply from the first day an advertisement appears:
- Every advertising slot is labelled. A reader will be able to tell at a glance that a block is paid space and not something written here.
- Every advertising slot has its space reserved in advance. The area an advertisement will occupy is held open in the layout before the advertisement loads, so that the page does not shift under a reader who is already reading it, and so that nothing is ever clicked by accident.
Advertising will not be placed inside a paragraph, between a question and its answer, or anywhere that it could be mistaken for a catalogue record, a cast list or a score.
3. What advertising and commission can never buy
This list applies now and continues to apply whatever commercial arrangement exists later. None of the following is for sale at any price:
- A place in a list. Ranked and unranked lists are built from the catalogue and from editorial judgement. No entry has ever been added, moved or kept in a list because of money, and none ever will be.
- A score. Editorial scores are one person’s judgement after watching or reading the work. Nobody outside this site has ever influenced one.
- Coverage. Whether a work gets a record, an article or a mention is an editorial decision. Payment does not create coverage, and the absence of payment does not prevent it.
- Pre-publication access. No advertiser, distributor, agency or platform sees a draft before it is published, is told what a score will be, or is given the chance to respond before publication.
- The removal of a correction. Once a correction is published it stays on the page. A commercial relationship is not a reason to take one down, and asking for one to be removed will not succeed.
A request to change or soften editorial content is not treated as a commercial request. It is answered under the Corrections Policy, against the sources, whoever sends it.
4. Affiliate links
There are currently no affiliate links on this site. Links to streaming platforms, publishers and shops exist so that a reader can reach the licensed source of a work, and they are plain links.
If that changes, this page will name the programme, and every link that earns a commission will be marked as such on the page where it appears rather than only here. A commission will never change which platform is listed: the licensed source is listed because it is the licensed source.
5. Sponsored content, gifts and screeners
No sponsored or paid content is published on this site. If that ever changes, such an item will be labelled at the top of the page, in the same size as the headline, in plain words, and it will carry no editorial score.
Screeners, review copies and press material sent for the purpose of coverage are treated as ordinary source material. Accepting one creates no obligation to publish, no obligation to be positive, and no right to see the piece in advance. Where a work was covered from a screener or from material supplied by the rights holder, the page says so. Gifts of value, payments and hospitality are not accepted.
6. Cookies and personalisation
Advertising cookies are not set on this site today, because no advertising is served. Analytics cookies are set, and the detail of which ones and what they do is on the Cookie Policy.
Before any advertising is enabled, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform will be put in place so that consent is requested before an advertising cookie is set for readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Readers can control advertisement personalisation at Google Ads Settings and opt out of many vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
7. Who to write to
Advertising, sponsorship and collaboration enquiries go to info@blglflix.com, which reaches the editor directly. An enquiry will be answered honestly, including when the answer is no.
Please do not send a commercial enquiry that is really a request to change a record or soften a review. It will be read as the latter and answered under the Corrections Policy.
