BIOGRAPHY

Alonzo Raphael Elequin (born May 15, 1996), who works as Ali King, is a Filipino actor and online video creator. He plays Key Kalunsod in Boys’ Lockdown (2020), described in the press at the time as an introvert, sensitive and close to the people around him. It was his first professional acting job.

He did not come from the industry. He took a Tourism Management degree at Far Eastern University and then worked as a creative at one of the largest advertising and public relations agencies in the Philippines. When the pandemic moved that work home he was already building an audience online, in vlogs and short video, and it was there that the producers at Ticket2Me found him and invited him to audition.

The series was directed by Jade Castro, written by Danice Mae P. Sison and produced by Ticket2Me Bit by Bit Company, running to six episodes on the Ticket2Me platform, on YouTube and later on the Heart of Asia Channel. He and his co-lead Alec Kevin were promoted as KeyChen, and a second season was later developed with a different cast.

He writes songs and plays guitar, which published coverage mentions alongside his online work rather than as a separate career. No release has been documented, so no music credit is claimed on this page.

Where this record is thin: no screen credit after 2020 could be verified, so the years-active field is left empty; no agency, birthplace or official social account was confirmed; and there is no encyclopaedia article for him. His birth date rests on a single press feature, which is stated openly here rather than presented as settled.

He is the clearest example in this batch of a casting route that barely existed ten years ago.

King was an advertising creative with a following, working from home in 2020, and a production company watching for people with audiences found him there. There was no agency, no audition circuit and no drama training in the sequence at all. Boys’ Lockdown was his first acting job of any kind, and he was carrying half of it.

The genre’s economics explain the choice. A series made for a ticketing platform and YouTube has to bring its own audience, and someone who already has one is not a risk, he is the distribution plan. That logic put several people in this catalogue on screen for the first time in the same year.

One consequence shows up in the record itself. His character was listed wrongly on this site until this pass, because a performer without an encyclopaedia entry or an agency page has nothing authoritative for a cast list to be checked against.

FUN FACTS

  • Boys’ Lockdown was his first professional acting role.
  • He was working as a creative at a major Philippine advertising and public relations agency when he was cast.
  • The producers found him through his online video work rather than through an agency or an audition call.
  • He writes songs and plays guitar, though no release has been documented.

TRIVIA

  • The catalogue’s original cast line had his character wrong. The record for Boys’ Lockdown as first imported listed him as Chen and Alec Kevin as Key. A Philippine Star Freeman interview of 30 September 2020 and a Philippine Star feature of 7 October 2020 both give him as Key Kalunsod, as does a joint interview in Pikapika and the IMDb credit for the series, which names Alec Kevin Rigonan as Chen Chavez. The cast lines on the record have been corrected.
  • Birth date rests on one source. 15 May 1996 is printed in the Philippine Star feature of 7 October 2020. No second source was located, and that is recorded rather than implied.

EDUCATION

  • Far Eastern University, Tourism Management.

CAREER AT A GLANCE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is Ali King?

A Filipino actor and online video creator, born Alonzo Raphael Elequin on 15 May 1996. He plays Key Kalunsod in Boys’ Lockdown (2020).

Does he play Key or Chen?

Key. Alec Kevin plays Chen. The cast line this catalogue originally imported had the two reversed, and it has been corrected against four sources.

Was this his first acting job?

Yes. Before it he worked as a creative at a large advertising and public relations agency, and had a following from vlogging and short video.

How was he cast?

The producers at Ticket2Me saw his online work and invited him to audition. There was no agency involved.

Does he make music?

Press coverage says he writes songs and plays guitar, but no release could be found, so no music credit is recorded on this page.

What has he done since?

Nothing that could be verified for this page. That reflects the available sources, not a statement that he stopped working, which is why the years-active field is empty.

What appears here is Ali King’s documented professional work and a single portrait, together with a note on a cast-list error this site has now corrected; his private life is not recorded, and the disclaimer and corrections page explains how to raise a correction.
