Huy Du

The second half of Follow My Sunshine (2020) belongs to Huy Du, who plays Nhat opposite Thai Thanh Nhan’s Van across the series’ five episodes. The Movie Database, which gives the character’s fuller form as Minh Nhat, records that one credit and no others.

Nothing else about him is documented anywhere that could be verified. The database holds no birth date, no place of birth, no alternative name spellings and no biography text, and there is no Wikipedia article or MyDramaList entry to check any of it against. Six years after the series went out, a single line of credit is the whole of the public record.

There is a name clash worth flagging before anyone searches for him. Huy Du was also the working name of a well-known Vietnamese composer, born Nguyen Huy Du in 1926 and died in 2007, a writer of revolutionary songs with a substantial Wikipedia entry of his own. The two are entirely unconnected, and a search on the name will return the composer long before it returns the actor.

Follow My Sunshine itself sits slightly apart from the rest of the Vietnamese material in this catalogue. It was released free on YouTube through the Come Out LGBT Việt Nam channel rather than by a production company, and it is the earliest of the Vietnamese records held here. BL Watcher’s review of it, the only detailed English-language account that could be found, supplies a nine-name cast list and is fairly blunt about the performances; its remark about the actor playing Nhat being more at ease in one kind of scene than another is a reviewer’s assessment and is noted here as that rather than quoted as fact.
