About this archive
Japan is where a lot of BL vocabulary was born. Boys love and yuri grew up first as publishing categories, with their own magazines, imprints and a huge self published scene. So it is no surprise that most Japanese screen work starts life as a manga, light novel or web comic.
Live action series are usually compact: short runs, late night slots, or straight to streaming. Animation is often financed by a production committee, where several companies share the costs and the rights. Actors arrive from stage, modelling, idol groups and agency rosters, and a BL role tends to be one part of a busy filmography.
Keita Machida, Eiji Akaso and Kota Kagami are here, and so are voice actors like Makoto Furukawa and Chiaki Kobayashi. My tip for you: do not skip the voice actor profiles. Audio drama is a big format in Japan, so some of these careers are full of roles you hear and never see. Headphones on, uff.
