About this archive
So many BL and GL stories had a life before the screen. A web novel posted chapter by chapter, a manga volume, a Korean manhwa, a Chinese danmei novel, a Japanese light novel: often the drama is the second version, and the two can differ in length, in ending and in which characters make it through.
Adaptation articles put both versions side by side. They name the source by its original title and author, note where it was published, and walk through what the screen version kept, squeezed, moved around or added. If there is an official English edition, it gets named so you can go and read it.
Changes are described as changes, with what they do to the shape of the story, and both versions are treated as two ways to tell it. My tip: start with the big overview of BL adaptations, then try Fake Fact Lips or the Payback guide if you love comparing a drama with the comic it came from.
