JC Alcantara

John Carlo Alcantara, who works as JC Alcantara, is a Filipino actor and model from Nueva Ecija. He appears here as Mico Ramos in Hello Stranger (2020), the Black Sheep Productions series that ran to eight episodes on YouTube and Facebook between 24 June and 19 August 2020 under the direction of Petersen Vargas.

He came to acting through commercials. His early work was as a model, including a widely seen insurance advertisement and an entry in the Kwentong Jollibee series, which in the Philippines functions as a minor screen showcase in its own right. Drama followed: the primetime serial Halik, in which he played Bogs, and episodes of the courtroom anthology Ipaglaban Mo.

Hello Stranger was a step change. The pilot passed a million views within days of release and the series had reached more than fourteen million by the finale, which is the kind of number that turns a supporting player into a lead. He returned as Mico in Hello, Stranger: The Movie, released on 12 February 2021, and with his co-lead Tony Labrusca he recorded a cover of the series theme, “Kahit Na Anong Sabihin Ng Iba”, a song written for the show and originally performed by Seth Fedelin.

Where this record is thin, and it is thinner than his visibility would suggest: he has no encyclopaedia article of his own, so no birth date, birthplace beyond the province, education or years-active range could be verified, and all of those fields are left empty. His filmography is known by title from interview coverage rather than from a maintained credit list, so years and character names are incomplete for everything except the two Hello Stranger releases.
