BIOGRAPHY
Anthony Angel Labrusca Jr. (born August 7, 1995), who works as Tony Labrusca, is a Filipino actor and singer. He is in this catalogue as Xavier de Guzman in Hello Stranger (2020), the eight-episode Black Sheep Productions series directed by Petersen Vargas that ran on YouTube and Facebook between 24 June and 19 August 2020.
He was born in Houston, Texas, and came into the Philippine industry through a talent competition rather than through an agency roster. After a McDonald’s Philippines commercial in 2016 he appeared on Pinoy Boyband Superstar in 2016 and 2017, and has been with Star Magic since. His first substantial screen role was Jake Arguelles in the fantasy serial La Luna Sangre (2017 to 2018), which won him Best New Male TV Personality at the PMPC Star Awards for TV in 2017.
Film work developed quickly alongside it: Loving in Tandem (2017), then in a single year Glorious, ML and Double Twisting Double Back (2018), the last of which brought a Best Actor nomination at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival. He also took Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the LionhearTV RAWR Awards in 2018.
Hello Stranger was one of four 2020 releases, alongside U-Turn, Love Lockdown and Hindi Tayo Pwede, and it did extremely well: the pilot passed a million views within days and the series had accumulated more than fourteen million by its finale. A feature-length sequel, Hello, Stranger: The Movie, followed on 12 February 2021 with him again as Xavier. He and his co-lead JC Alcantara recorded a cover of the series theme, “Kahit Na Anong Sabihin Ng Iba”, originally performed by Seth Fedelin.
Since then he has worked mainly in television, in Bagong Umaga (2020 to 2021), Click, Like, Share: Altered (2021), Nag-aapoy na Damdamin (2023 to 2024) and Binibining Marikit (2025), with the film Dreamboi in 2025. He released music as a recording artist early on, and was nominated as MOR Best New Artist in 2018 for “Tanging Ikaw”.

Labrusca reached Hello Stranger by way of Pinoy Boyband Superstar, a network talent show, then a fantasy serial, then a run of independent features, then a network contract. The numbers attached to the series are worth noting too. Fourteen million views across eight episodes, on YouTube and Facebook, for a production with no broadcast slot at all. In 2020 that was the argument the format made for itself, and it is the reason the Philippine industry committed to it as quickly as it did.
