Yui Narumi
BIOGRAPHY
Yui Narumi (Japanese: 鳴海唯; born May 16, 1998) is a Japanese actor signed to FLaMme. She plays Shiho Kayano, the documentary director at the center of the 2026 MBS boys’ love drama The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days, unaware that the couple she is filming has already broken up.
Born in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, she enrolled in a theater arts program at a university in the Kansai region before leaving in November 2017, having trained for around six months at the acting school Pro Acting Labo. That same year she worked as an extra on the film Chihayafuru: Musubi, an experience that pushed her toward acting as a career. She made her acting debut in January 2018 in Tomoki Sano’s film P-ko no Sora.
Her breakthrough followed within roughly eighteen months. She won the audition for NHK’s morning drama Natsuzora (2019) and played Akemi Shibata, the youngest member of the Shibata family, appearing as the grown-up Akemi from August onward. Because she is from the Kansai region, the Hokkaido setting of the story meant adjusting her speech to a different pace. In 2023 she moved on to a Taiga drama role in Dou Suru Ieyasu, playing Ina, the daughter of the warrior Honda Tadakatsu. Her first golden-hour prime-time regular role came with the TBS Tuesday drama Eye Love You (January 2024).
She joined FLaMme on April 17, 2023, having previously been represented by MKroom. The move came in the same year as her Taiga drama part.
Looked at together, the dates sit close. Her first film role came in January 2018, and by the end of 2023 she had held parts in both of NHK’s long-running flagship formats, the morning serial and the Taiga drama, each while still in her twenties.

She plays Shiho Kayano in The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days, a six episode series from 2026 that takes its story from a novel by Asahara Naoto.
Her character is the one person in the story who does not know the relationship has ended, and the film she is making rests on that.
Before this she moved from the film P-ko no Sora to the NHK morning drama Natsuzora, the Taiga drama Dou Suru Ieyasu and the TBS drama Eye Love You.
The roles that made her name were defined by where they sat in a family: Akemi is the youngest of the Shibata household, and Ina is the daughter of Honda Tadakatsu. Shiho Kayano changes that position. She holds the camera rather than appearing in front of it as someone’s relative, and she stands outside the couple she is filming. The formats shift in the same direction, from the long runs of a morning serial and a year-long Taiga drama to a six-episode series. In one stretch of her list she has gone from being the youngest in a household to being the person who watches two others.
In my view, the thread in her list is comic timing that survives inside serious material. She trained in impressions and comedy before acting, and the long ensemble runs from Natsuzora to the Taiga drama gave that instinct room to work. For a first look I would choose Natsuzora, since it is where her name began to travel, and then Eye Love You for her prime time work.
