Chen Pao-ying

BIOGRAPHY

Chen Pao-ying is a Taiwanese film and television producer. She is the producer of Connecting to You (整個世界,只有你連上了我, 2026), the GrX Studio boys’ love series of twelve episodes plus a special, and before that produced Your Name Engraved Herein (刻在你心底的名字, 2020).

Her producing credits run from 2019 onward and include the short film Gentleman Spa (癡情馬殺雞, 2019) as executive producer and producer, Leaving Virginia (2020), Waiting for My Cup of Tea (一杯熱奶茶的等待, 2021), S-Girl (2022) as line producer, Blind Love (失明, 2025), Hunter Brothers (2025) as co-producer and The Dating Menu (2026) as executive producer. She has also appeared briefly on screen, as a night market customer in Left-Handed Girl (2025) and an apartment neighbour in OK.FINE. (2026).

Three of her titles are boys’ love. Gentleman Spa is an eighteen minute short directed by Yu Jhi-han, released 24 March 2019. Your Name Engraved Herein is a 115 minute theatrical feature directed by Liu Kuang-Hui, released 30 September 2020, starring Edward Chen and Tseng Jing-hua opposite Leon Dai, and set in 1987 as martial law in Taiwan comes to an end. Connecting to You is a streaming series that began on 14 August 2026.

In Connecting to You the protagonist Lin Jiakai, played by Bruce Chiu, sees the bond between any two people as a coloured thread, and a silver-grey one forms between him and the police officer Wu Dawei, played by Liu Yu-ren. The series comes from Beck’s 2021 web novel published by Mirror Fiction, and Yu Jhi-han directs and co-wrote the adaptation with Wen Huei-ming. Four episodes arrived together on 14 August 2026, two more followed on each Friday until the twelfth on 11 September, and a special episode came out on 18 September.

Chen Pao-ying has produced boys’ love as a short film in 2019, a cinema feature in 2020 and a streaming series in 2026.

Yu Jhi-han directed Gentleman Spa in 2019 and directs Connecting to You seven years later, so the producer and the director are the same pairing at both ends of the span. In between comes Your Name Engraved Herein, directed by Liu Kuang-Hui.

Gentleman Spa was released in 2019, the year Taiwan became the first place in Asia to legalise same sex marriage, and Your Name Engraved Herein is set in 1987, the year martial law ended. On Gentleman Spa Chen Pao-ying is credited as both producer and executive producer.
