BIOGRAPHY
Teejay Marquez, born Teejay Madrilejo on September 29, 1987 in Quezon City, is a Filipino actor, host, singer, model and dancer. He carries two records in this catalogue three years apart and for two different studios: Benjamin “Ben” Mendoza in Ben x Jim (2020) for Regal Entertainment, and Win in My Story the Series (2023) for Oxin Films.
He has been working since 2009. The early part of the career is youth-oriented television: the GMA teen drama anthology Reel Love Presents: Tween Hearts from 2010 to 2012, which brought him a shared Best Male New TV Personality award at the 2011 PMPC Star Awards for Television, and the long-running variety programme Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman from 2011 to 2014. Film credits from the same period include Ang Tanging Pamilya (2009), Pagari (2013), Basement and Marka (both 2014) and Dubsmash (2016).
Ben x Jim is the work he is best known for. It ran on YouTube in seven episodes between 15 October and 26 November 2020, written and directed by Easy Ferrer, with a second season of eight episodes following on Upstream.PH from 12 February 2021. Opposite him as Jim was Jerome Ponce, whose profile is also on this site.
He returned to the genre for My Story the Series, which premiered on the Oxin Films YouTube channel on 2 May 2023 as a sequel to the 2020 series My Day. He plays Win, a chef at the restaurant where Miko Gallardo‘s returning character Sky finds work, so the pairing is new even though the series is a continuation.
Alongside the genre work, he has appeared in Hellcome Home (2019), Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss (2022), Suntok sa Buwan (2022), Broken Hearts Trip (2023), G! Where this record is thin: his hosting, guesting and variety credits are numerous and poorly itemised outside Philippine sources, and no official social account was verified for this page despite his being described as a vlogger in published material.
Of the Filipino leads in this batch whose birth dates are actually documented, he is the oldest, and by a clear margin.
Born in 1987, working since 2009 and holding a new-personality award from 2011, Marquez came to Ben x Jim in his early thirties with a decade of teen drama and variety television already behind him. That difference tends to be invisible in a genre where two leads are promoted as a matched pair. The convention presents them as equivalents, and a viewer has no particular reason to know that one of them had been on television for years before the other started.
