Jerome Ponce

Jerome Ponce, born Joseph Jerome Gapido Porciuncula on June 4, 1995 in Santa Mesa, Manila, is a Filipino actor. He appears in this catalogue as Jimson “Jim” Alcantara in Ben x Jim (2020), opposite Teejay Marquez, in a story about two childhood friends who fall in love years later.

He is a mainstream television actor rather than a genre one, and the series sits at an angle to the rest of his work. His breakthrough was Be Careful with My Heart (2012 to 2014), the ABS-CBN daytime drama in which he played Luke Andrew Lim, and the pairing it produced won Most Promising Loveteam at the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards in 2014. He has also received the German Moreno Youth Achievement Award at the 62nd FAMAS Awards.

Television has carried most of his career: Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita and Pangako Sa ‘Yo (2015), The Good Son (2017 to 2018), A Soldier’s Heart (2020), FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (2022), Safe Skies Archer (2023 to 2024) and, more recently, I Love You Since 1892, Golden Scenery of Tomorrow and Para sa Isa’t Isa. His films include Haunted Mansion (2015), The Ghost Bride (2017), Walwal (2018), Finding You and Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019), Katips (2021), Martyr or Murderer (2023) and A Glimpse of Forever (2024).

He was with Star Magic from 2012 until 2022 and has been represented by Viva Artist Agency since. He attended Malayan High School of Science and enrolled at Mapua Institute of Technology, where his studies were postponed.

Where this record is thin, and it is thin in an unexpected place: his own encyclopaedia entry does not list Ben x Jim at all. The series article does, and names him as Jim, so the credit is not in doubt, but it is a clean demonstration of how easily a web series drops out of a filmography assembled from broadcast credits. His stated years active begin in 2008, four years before the first credit anyone has documented, and no source explains the gap.
