What happens

Lovers & Gangsters (หงเสนคลุกฝุ่น) takes us to Bangkok in 1956, when the city is split between two gangs on either side of the river. Hongsen, known as Sen, leads the Gaoyod Gang that controls the Thonburi side. Zeng leads the Klookfoon Gang that rules Phra Nakhon. An old feud between the two has never been settled, and it keeps dragging them back into open battle.

In the middle of all that danger, love turns up where it is least welcome. Sen falls for Yong, who happens to be Zeng's younger brother. At the same time Zeng finds himself drawn to Zo, the newest member of his own gang. So one family sits at the centre of two romances, and each of those romances crosses a line the gangs have spent years defending.

As love, revenge and buried secrets from the past knot together, all four men have to face dangers and truths that could change their lives for good. The rivalry is about territory, but the story keeps asking a second question: what happens when the person you love belongs to the side you are supposed to fight?

Force Jiratchapong Srisang plays Sen, Book Kasidet Plookphol plays Yong, Great Sapol Assawamunkong plays Zeng and Bright Rapheephong Thapsuwan plays Zo. The series adapts two novels by rolisrose, Hong Sen Kao Yot (หงเสนเก้ายอด) and Seng Khluk Fun (เส็งคลุกฝุ่น).

Two novels, two gangs, one title

Here is the detail I love most. The two source novels are called Hong Sen Kao Yot and Seng Khluk Fun, and each title pairs a leader with his gang: Hongsen with the Gaoyod, Seng with the Klookfoon. The Thai title of the series, หงเสนคลุกฝุ่น, takes Sen's name from the first book and the rival gang's name from the second and glues them together. Before a single scene airs, the title has already put Sen inside the enemy camp. That is exactly where his heart is about to go, and I love a title that spoils the romance this elegantly.

A river between them

Thonburi and Phra Nakhon sit on opposite banks of the Chao Phraya, so the gang map is also a geography lesson. Every crossing in this story is a choice between loyalty and love. Gang stories set in the past usually promise big standoffs, and this one adds a river that the lovers have to cross to reach the person they should not be seeing.

ForceBook in a new decade

Force and Book have shared the screen in Enchanté, A Boss and a Babe, Our Skyy 2, Only Friends, Perfect 10 Liners and Melody of Secrets. They have done offices, campuses and secret songs. Now they get gang turf in the 1950s, with Sen leading one side and Yong belonging by blood to the other. For a pair whose story started at the same school, being cast as rivals by birth is a delicious change of costume.

The second couple deserves its own spotlight

Great and Bright carry the other romance, and I think it has the trickiest setup of all. Zeng is the boss, Zo is the newest recruit, and the man Zeng is fighting is the man his younger brother loves. Bright already knows his way around a period romance on One 31 from I Feel You Linger in the Air, and Great has spent years playing men with authority, from Inspector M to a count. Putting those two histories together in one gang feels like a very smart piece of casting.

Friday nights are taken

Songsak Mongkolthong directs for GMMTV and Cholumpi Brothers, and the first episode is set for Friday 30 October 2026 on One 31, with oneD following an hour later. The same night GMMTV holds a fan meeting called Lovers & Gangsters: The Legend Begins at Union Hall. Nothing has aired at the time of writing, so this review covers the announced story, cast and trailer, with no score. I will be back with my thoughts once the gangs start crossing that river.
