About this archive
Some love stories need no meet cute, because the other person has lived next door the whole time. Neighbour stories start with shared walls, shared gardens and shared memories, and the drama comes from everything that closeness has already cost.
The Thai entries make a lovely pair. When Oranges Fall is set in a neighbourhood where an orange tree on one property keeps dropping fruit into the other, which forces two households and two boys into contact. Fourever You Part 2: Beside the Sky follows childhood neighbours who meet again at university carrying an old grief. From the Philippines, Like in the Movies adds a college coming of age story with family at its heart.
My tip: begin with When Oranges Fall for comedy and opposites attract, then go to Beside the Sky when you are ready for something more tender. And maybe say hello to your own neighbours tomorrow. You never know.
