A character who is simply angry does not qualify, because the pursuit of retribution has to organise the plot.

These narratives end up asking whether being loved is compatible with being consumed by a purpose, which gives the romance real weight instead of ornament.
Expect backstory released slowly, morally compromised leads and an ending that may cost somebody something. Runs tend toward full series length because the scheme needs room, and both original screenplays and novel adaptations are common.
