Boy Group

About this archive
Uff, the boy group. If you have ever finished a Thai BL, looked up the lead and found out he also sings, dances and has a fan chant, welcome. This is where those groups live. The reason is simple: the companies that make many BL series often manage the actors in them and run a music label too, so the same faces that carry a drama get released as a group.
The format is easy to spot once you know it. A fixed line up, positions like leader, main vocalist, main dancer and rapper, a shared visual concept, and a busy calendar of singles, fan meetings and shows squeezed in around filming. Quite a few were built through a televised competition or a company training programme.
You will find Thai names like LYKN, DXTEEN from Japan, Korean acts such as Got7 and AB6IX, and Chinese groups like UNINE on the same shelf. My tip: open the group page first, then click through to the members. One gives you the debut, the label and the line up, the others give you the dramas, and together they explain a lot.
