About this archive
Pinoy BL grew fast once filming and releases moved online, and you can still feel that energy. Series are mostly made for streaming and video platforms, often in short episodes, by everyone from established networks to small independent teams. Original scripts are the norm here, so you get plenty of stories that were never a novel first.
Language is part of the charm. Characters slide between Filipino and English, sometimes inside one scene, which makes these shows easy to follow for international fans without dubbing. Uff, that also explains why they travel so well.
The actors here, like Kokoy de Santos, Tony Labrusca, Ian Pangilinan and Adrian Lindayag, came in through very different doors: talent agencies, network star systems, talent searches, theatre and social media. Leads are often promoted as a pair, so fan events and live streams fill a big part of the year. My tip: scroll the full credits on each profile. You will often see BL roles sitting right next to mainstream TV, film, hosting or music.
