Matthew Han - Hong Kong actor and model, played detective Xie Jiahua in Sammy's Children's Day

Matthew Han

BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Han (Chinese: 幸卓輝, Xing Zhuohui; born December 10, 1992) is a Hong Kong model and actor who has built the second half of his career across Hong Kong and Taiwanese screen production. He came to acting from commercial modelling, where seasonal fashion campaigns made up the bulk of his early professional work, and he has described the move into drama as a deliberate decision to keep equipping himself during the long gaps between castings.

Han’s first widely seen screen work came through a Hong Kong casting programme and the Hong Kong-Taiwan production Sword Dance, in which he played a physically disabled character while performing sword-fighting and hockey sequences. His breakout arrived in 2025 with the Taiwanese BL series Fight for You, where he played Bu Xing, an intelligence-agency investigator written with absolute moral clarity, a man who, in Han’s own description, sees only Yes and No and keeps no grey areas with the officers under him. The director cast him at their first meeting, citing his reserved bearing, his glasses and the Hong Kong accent in his Mandarin, which the production then wrote into the character’s backstory as an officer seconded from Hong Kong to Taiwan.

In 2026 he joined the Chinese-Hong Kong drama Sammy’s Children’s Day, set in the 1980s Kowloon Walled City, as the detective Xie Jiahua, appearing across all nine episodes in a supporting lead role. Han speaks Cantonese natively and retains conversational Mandarin from a Hong Kong primary school that taught Chinese through Mandarin immersion; he arrived two weeks early for rehearsals on Fight for You and practised extensively while deliberately preserving his accent for the character. He has said he intends to divide future work between the Hong Kong and Taiwanese markets rather than commit to either.
